Sylvie D´Apote has over 15 years of experience as an energy economist, with over ten years focusing on Latin American oil, gas and power issues. Since June 2009, Sylvie is Partner of GAS ENERGY.
Prior to joining GAS ENERGY, Sylvie was Associate Director with Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA) from 2005 to 2009, responsible for covering the natural gas sector in the Southern Cone, with particular emphasis on supply-demand dynamics, regulatory issues, gas market integration, cross-border pipelines, LNG, and gas-and-power convergence.
Between 2003 and 2005, Sylvie managed her own consulting company, Prysma E&T Consultores, based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, carrying out projects and studies for private companies and international organizations in the areas of energy policy and regulation, gas and power market analysis, and corporate strategy.
Between 1997 and 2003, Sylvie was Head of the Latin American Program with the International Energy Agency (IEA). In that capacity, she was in charge of coordinating all IEA activities with focus on Latin America; carrying out studies on Latin America´s energy markets and policies. She is the author of the book “South America Gas: Daring to Tap the Bounty” and contributed to several other IEA and OECD publications.
Prior to that, Sylvie worked as an energy economist for the consulting company WEFA Energy, in London, and as a researcher for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
She holds a "Laurea" in Economics from the University of Rome La Sapienza, Italy, and an MSc in Energy Technology from the Imperial College, University of London, UK.
Sylvie is French-Italian and speaks fluently English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
